The Travel Charme Bergresort Werfenweng [ad] is located about 50 kilometers south of Salzburg and thus belongs to the Austrian province of Salzburg.
Travel Charme Bergresort Werfenweng is located in a sun-drenched valley surrounded by majestic mountains. Location and view from the hotel are fantastic and make you looking forward to your upcoming walking holidays.
If you are arriving by car, take the A10 to exit 43 Werfen. From here it is about ten minutes by car until you arrive at Travel Charme Bergresort Werfenweng and enjoy your Walking holidays in Austria .
You can travel to Salzburg from many German and European cities by plane or train. From there, take the train to Bischofswiesen, from where you can take the free shuttle to Werfenweng. Werfenweng promotes car-free holidays and has developed the concept of gentle mobility. The vast majority of walking trails are within walking distance of the hotel or within a short drive.
The underground parking costs nine euros per night. The welcome was very friendly and the check-in was done quickly and easily. To get in the mood for our walking holiday in Austria, we got a glass of sparkling wine at arrival, which we enjoyed on the dreamlike panorama terrace, before we moved into our room.
A large balcony, that goes the full length of the room, invites you to watch up the sunrise or sunset. The design is very appealing in all hotel areas. Many natural materials such as stone and wood dominate and blend in perfectly with the surrounding landscape and the village. The walls are decorated with nice pictures of mountain landscapes that recall why you are actually here: Walking holidays in Austria.
The Travel Charme Bergresort Werfenwen offers a wide range of leisure activities, so your walking holiday in Austria won´t get boring anyways. The hotel offers daily changing guided tours to the area´s attractions. These include the fantastic Eisriesenwelt in Werfen, the Hohenwerfen Castle or the Mozart city of Salzburg.
With the free Werfenwenger guest card, you can use the cable cars for free or discounted. Also the Samo card oofers a lot of benefits around Werfenweng.
The main reason why we came to the Travel Charme Bergresort Werfenweng is, however, to spend an unforgettable walking holiday in Austria - and we were able to do this without any restrictions. For example, we did a hike to the Werfener Hütte. You can start the hike at the hotel. It takes about three hours. The hike starts relatively flat and gets steeper and steeper until the end, what is quite strenuous and sweaty, but every meter of this hike rewards you with great views of the Hochkönig range. The nature and animals, we saw on this hike, are definitely worth the effort. During the ascent, you will pass two hosted alm huts - the Gamsblick Alm and the Elmauer Alm. However, the destination is the Werfener Hütte at almost 2,000 meters altitude, which is picturesquely located just below the summit of the Hoher Thron. The hike was the highlight of our walking holiday in Austria.
Back at the hotel, those of you who have not had enough, can leave some sweat in the hotel's well-equipped gym. For all others, the 1,600 square meter Puria Premium SPA with various saunas, massage and cosmetic offerings and many beautifully furnished relaxation rooms are available. A year round outdoor heated pool and a great Jacuzzi invite you to relax or cool off in the summer months. The surrounding mountains are reflecting in the window front of the pool area. What a view. Ample beach chairs and enough space for the number of guests as well as drinks and snacks such as nuts and dried fruits are available.
Dinner was also served as a buffet during our walking holiday in the Travel Charme Bergresort Werfenweng. For starters, there is a great selection of delicious salads, soups and Mediterranean classics such as Carpaccio, Vitello Tonnato or Tramezzini. For the main course, there is a buffet- selection of three dishes. During our time, there was medium roast beef, saltimbocca, spaghetti with cherry tomatoes and basil and catfish fillet among others. In addition, there is a good selection of daily changing side dishes such as grilled vegetables, rosemary potatoes, risotto or noodles.
At the dessert buffet, we had the choice of Creme Brulee, Panna Cotta, Tiramisu, cakes and cheeses.
The culinary offer is completed by an excellent selection of wines.
Drinks are not included in the three-quarter board and are a bit too expensive in our opinion. We paid € 5 for a large beer, a bottle of water was € 6.50 and we could find any bottler of wine for less than € 35. That is our only criticism of the culinary offer.
