Location and arrival
The location of Komaneka at Rasa Sayang [ad] is really unique. Located in the artist town of Ubud in the south of Bali, it is the ideal starting point to explore the jungle, waterfalls and rice fields of the Indonesian island.
Depending on the traffic, you will need about 90 minutes by car from the airport near Denpasar.
In the city of Ubud, the Komaneka at Rasa Sayang is located right on the main street. Therefore, the world-famous Monkey Forest can be reached in less than five minutes on foot. When you walk through the lobby building, you immerse yourself in a green oasis of relaxation. No noise from the street, only peace and friendliness hit you here.
Equipment and design
The hotel is really a tropical oasis in the middle of a lively small town. The room complexes are grouped around an inner courtyard that looks like a miniature jungle. When you step out of the door, you feel like you are in the jungle - dreamlike.
At the front of the hotel is the busy street with some traffic, lots of shops and restaurants. There is a dense jungle at the back of the hotel.
Two terraces descend to the rear from the hotel. The first is the restaurant and breakfast area. The pool area is on the second lower terrace. The infinity pool fits perfectly into the jungle landscape. Simply dreamy and calm.
A booking at Komaneka at Rasa Sayang always includes breakfast and afternoon tea with coffee, tea and delicious snacks and cakes.
The different room types are all stylishly decorated in Balinese style, but the private villas on the roof of the hotel are simply awesome. Privacy, elegant design and great views are waiting for you. A bowl of delicious fruit awaits you in the room. Really think about booking such a villa. Worth it.
We had such a villa with 142 square meters of space plus our own sun terrace with two very stylish loungers. The villa has a living room with a comfortable sofa, coffee table and flat screen TV. In the bedroom there is a luxurious king-size four-poster bed and in the bathroom you will find a cool free-standing bathtub with a view of the jungle or the city. Well-scented shampoos, creams and other cosmetic items are waiting for you, as is a rainwater shower.
Of course, the usual amenities such as minibar, air conditioning, safe and coffee maker are also available.
The staff at Komaneka are really courteous and usually already know what they can do for you before you ask.
ACTIVITIES AND LEISURE
Of course, the Komaneka at Rasa Sayang also has some activities in store for you.
If you are culturally interested, then try Balinese dance or traditional wood carving.
We spent an afternoon with the little macaque monkeys in the Ubud Monkey Forest. It was really funny. But be careful: the monkeys are real long fingers and incredibly cheeky. So when you visit the Monkey Sanctuary, do without accessories such as sunglasses, earrings or other things that might interest a little monkey.
Otherwise you can still take part in the sightseeing tour of the hotel or take a bike tour to Moyo's House.
You also have the opportunity to take part in a treetop picnic.
If you prefer to relax, just let yourself be pampered in the wonderful Akar Wangi SPA of the Komaneka at Rasa Sayang. Located on the roof of the Komaneka at Rasa Sayang, the SPA offers a breathtaking roof terrace with a pool.
Treatment rooms designed in traditional Indonesian style with air conditioning and a great view of the jungle, let you float into other spheres during a massage.
CULINARY OFFER
Breakfast is served à la carte on the terrace of Madu Manis Kitchen with a view of the infinity pool and the jungle beyond. Enjoy excellent cappuccino or other coffee preparations in the warm morning sun. Of course there is also tea and fresh juices. A colorful selection of tropical fruits, delicious pastries such as croissants, white and black bread as well as toast and sweets such as pancakes or waffles let you fall into the coma early in the morning.
In the evening, a mixture of Mediterranean and Balinese dishes is served in the Madu Manis Kitchen. The quality of the ingredients and the food in general is very high. Everything tasted very good to us.
If the a la carte dishes are too common for you, you can order the Romantic Mesode Ajengan Bali Dinner for couples. A little apart with a great view of the small river, you can enjoy an authentic Balinese dinner with candles, decoration and Balinese music in the background.
The situation is similar with the Madu Manis Special Dinner or Purnama Dinner / Tilem Dinner, which are offered depending on the moon phase. This dinner takes place by the pool on the jungle edge.
In the Appetizer Class you learn how to prepare delicious dishes. It's all about the right ingredients and the little secrets around. Very interesting.
On the drinks menu at Komaneka at Rasa Sayang, you will most likely find something you like. We especially enjoyed the innovative cocktails. Vodka with dragon fruit or our own ginger beer were our favorites.
Conclusion
In addition to Komaneka at Rasa Sayang, there are three other Komanekas in Ubud and one in Keramas on the coast: Komaneka at Monkey Forest, Komaneka at Tanggayuda, Komaneka at Bisma and Komaneka at Keramas Beach in Keramas.
The other Komanekas are definitely all worth a visit. Unfortunately we didn't see her.
Our recommendation is therefore limited to the Komaneka at Rasa Sayang in Ubud. We recommend this hotel to you all the more because it convinces with gentle and unexcited luxury.
The central location in the pulsating life of the main street and the tranquility in the rooms and in the tropical jungle garden at the back make the Komaneka at Rasa Sayang a perfect starting point for the Monkey Forest and the other highlights in and around Ubud.
But above all, the employees impress with their incredibly honest friendliness. The points mentioned paired with the delicious food and the beautiful rooms made for a wonderful stay in this magical hotel.
