Wir haben uns für das „The Duke Boutique Hotel“ [anzeige] entschieden, weil wir nach einem Hotel in zentraler und dennoch ruhiger Lage gesucht haben, was uns auch vom Design angesprochen hat. Ruhig ist auf Gozo – auch in der Hauptstadt Victoria – nicht schwer. Wir wollten aber in der Stadt wohnen, da es uns wichtig ist, eine nette Auswahl an fußläufig erreichbaren Restaurants vorzufinden.
LOCATION AND ARRIVAL OF THE DUKE BOUTIQUE HOTEL GOZO
As already mentioned, the small boutique hotel is located in Victoria, the capital of Gozo. Gozo is the little sister island of Malta and is located in the Maltese archipelago. Victoria is located in the middle of the small island of Gozo, making it the perfect base for day trips. The arrival takes place exclusively by car ferry from Malta.
The Duke Boutique Hotel is located on Victoria’s main street on the fourth and fifth floors of a shopping center. Actually a little unusual, but this does not result in a disadvantage for you as a guest. You don't notice anything from the hustle and bustle of the street and the mall and overlook the city park, the citadel of Victoria and a large part of the small island of Gozo from the spacious balcony.
No point on the island is more than 8 kilometers away from this hotel. So don't worry about distances. From here you can drive anywhere in 20 minutes.
There is a large free parking lot directly behind the hotel, which is relatively empty in the evening, but gets quite full during the day when everyday life breaks through Victoria and the streets can get crowded.

EQUIPMENT AND DESIGN OF THE DUKE BOUTIQUE HOTEL GOZO
We had a luxurious junior suite at The Duke Boutique Hotel with a large balcony and great jacuzzi. Switching off and relaxing in a city is not possible? Yes, yes. Every evening we enjoyed a bottle of Prosecco in the jacuzzi with a view of the breathtaking citadel of Victoria, while reviewing the day's experiences.
The design of the hotel is terrific in every way. A luxurious and large bathroom, a great bed with a breathtaking view of the Gozo Citadel and a stylish lounge area make the room's design and furnishings perfect.
The minibar is filled with delicious wines and delicious beers. Even our favorite South African wine was offered in the minibar, which of course created a good mood for us. A small coffee machine is also available. A great thing for us, because we like to have an espresso to get us going after a hard day.
The room is also equipped with a large flat screen TV and a comfortable couch area. In the bathroom there are wonderfully fragrant shower gels, creams and shampoos. Everything was really thought of here.
Activities
The boutique hotel is located in a shopping mall, making it ideal for shopping. If you leave the building and walk a bit along the main street, there are also some nice restaurants on the main street, which are also very quiet in the evening because the traffic falls asleep. We can highly recommend the pizza at Ottavo Senso. It really tasted so good that we were there twice in a row.
In Victoria itself, the citadel is definitely worth a visit. Do not miss the beautiful garden of the citadel. There are citrus trees and pomegranate trees with bright flowers and fruits.
In our opinion, there are indeed the most beautiful natural sites in Malta in Gozo. In the morning, cars can jam on the main road through Victoria because the locals have to work, but this quickly resolves when you're heading towards the coast. Let yourself be inspired by our Maltese highlights. Gozo is really magical.
CULINARY PLEASURE AT THE DUKE
Breakfast is included in the room booking at The Duke and that's a good thing, because it's really delicious. For breakfast there is delicious coffee and a perfect selection of Maltese and Mediterranean delicacies that really meet every taste. Scrambled eggs, boiled egg, fried egg and so on. In addition, super delicious Maltese dumplings with different fillings, a great selection of mueslis and yoghurts, jams and different types of honey, all from the island. Breakfast at this boutique hotel in Gozo is really delicious and offers everything you need to start an eventful day on the middle island of the Malta archipelago. Breakfast is served in the lounge area behind the reception. From there you also have a great view of Victoria.
There you can also choose from a great selection of excellent wines from all over the world in the evening. South African wines in particular seem to be quite popular in Malta. On the terrace with a view of the citadel or in the glassed-in interior, the good drops taste best.
Dinner is not served in this boutique hotel, but when it comes to the choice of great restaurants in Gozo, that's not too tragic. A restaurant on Gozo even did us so much that it made it into our highlights.
Conclusion
You don't have to pitch your tents by the sea to enjoy Gozo to the fullest. Imagine in the evening when it is already dark, but there are still 28 degrees in the jacuzzi on the terrace, looking at the illuminated citadel, sipping a bottle of prosecco and planning the next day. Doesn't that sound good?
