La Vela Khao Lak Resort
We wanted to get an impression of the quiet region north of the lively Phuket on the Andaman Sea and were looking for a well-located accommodation with delicious food and great design. Location and arrival
La Vela [ad] in Khao Lak is about 100 kilometres north of Phuket. The transfer from Phuket International Airport to La Vela takes about 90 minutes by car. The transfer can be booked directly with the hotel for 1500 Baht one-way.
The resort is located a little off the main road in Khao Lak and offers direct beach access. The beach is relatively wide and drops relatively quickly and steep into the sea. The sand is wonderfully fine and of white-yellow color. You can enjoy either the shade on the comfortable beach loungers or on a towel under the shade of palm trees. The beach is predestined for long walks in the sand. Just dreamlike to stroll.
Actually, you don't have to leave the hotel at all, because everything is on site. But if you want something else, you can reach small shops, restaurants, massage shops and a food market in a few minutes.
Culinary offer at La Vela Khao Lak
La Vela offers excellent culinary services, as there are several restaurants, cafés and bars.
Breakfast is served in the Spices Restaurant in La Vela´s garden. Sit in the air-conditioned indoor or shady outdoor area, which is still very pleasant in the morning. At La Vela, you'll put together your breakfast from an opulent and incredibly tasty buffet. Everyone will find his favorite breakfast: Be it authentically Asian, hearty savory, American or sweet breakfast. All at its finest and in huge selection. Egg dishes, grilled meat, pancakes and waffles are freshly prepared in live-cooking. Sushi, sashimi, fresh juices, French toast, cereals, fresh fruits, salads with delicious dressings, various breads and other sweet and savory pastries – just to name a few dishes. So, you will start your day in a good way. If you have to leave early due to departure or day trip, just reserve a breakfast to Go the night before. The package comes with orange juice, milk, sandwiches, fruit, boiled eggs, sweet pastries and, of course, water.
Throughout the day, enjoy cocktails, beer, non-alcoholic drinks, snacks and great local dishes and delicacies from all over the world at Kokulo Beach Club and Miner's Bar. Happy hour with reasonable prices takes place in the Beach Club even three times a day. Make sure you don't miss them. Kokulo also serves delicious ice cream.
In the evening, the Kokulo Beach Club offers theme buffets.
Of course, the rooms have a well-equipped minibar and room service. The minibar is relatively cheap. Every day La Vela equips its guests with three litres of water in the room. If that's not enough, refill your bottles at the dispensers throughout the hotel.
Activities at La Vela Khao Lak Hotel
You won't get bored at La Vela, because there are so many possibilities.
If you're looking for relaxation, enjoy the tranquility at Qaqula SPA or sweat in the gym. The little ones will find joy and supervision at the Kid's Club, while the parents enjoy peace and relaxation.
If you fancy a little more adventure, book a trip to Khao Sok National Park or white water rafting. Tropical island paradises are waiting for you on the Similan and Surin Islands or on Koh Tachai. Equipment and design
La Vela Khao Lak shines with a very modern design in every meaning. Modern shapes, highlights, reflections and large white surfaces spread throughout the whole resort.
The lovely furnished rooms also feature large queen-size beds, flat screens, modern images, safetyboxes and refrigerator. The bathroom is also spacious and equipped with nice shampoos, shower gels and lotions. There is also a Jacuzzi and a rain shower waiting for you in the rooms. Everything is at the highest level.
We booked a pool access room, which made our stay perfect. Imagine getting up in the morning and hopping from the terrace into the pool. Five steps and you are in the pool. The steps from the terrace lead first to a Jacuzzi open to the main pool. From there you swim into the main pool. This is true luxury.
In total, the hotel has five different pools – with one reserved for adults and one intended for children.
The whole resort, including a garden, is well maintained and stocked with flowers and tropical plants. Next to the breakfast area is a huge field of yellow flowers, which is very popular among guests as a photo spot.
The lobby, where the reception is located, is open to all sides and serves as a place to relax for guests during the check-in process. Here everything is kept in natural materials and very rustic and classy in design.
Conclusion to La Vela Khao Lak
With La Vela in Khao Lak you are on the safe side. The hotel impresses with its location right on the beach, but still not too far away from the hot spots. The design is daring but consistent and coherent. We love it.
With easy travel from Phuket Airport without long ferry services or the like, La Vela is the perfect place for an amazing and relaxing holiday. The pool access rooms are really great and have definitely convinced us.
