With Antrim Villa and Antrim Apartment [ad] we have found two accommodations in an excellent location in the middle of Cape Town. Location - Antrim Villa and Antrim Apartments
Antrim Villa and Antrim Apartment are located in the hip and central Greenpoint district at Hill Road and Antrim Road. From here, you can walk to Seapoint promenade in 5 minutes or to Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in 25 minutes. Supermarkets and public transport can also be reached by feet in a few minutes. From the rooftop pool of the Antrim Apartment, you have a view of the ocean and the slopes of Table Mountain.
Getting there
The journey is easily doable with a car. Since there is usually relatively little traffic in Cape Town, we recommend this option. Just rent a car at the airport when you arrive. Antrim Villa offers secure parking in the yard of the property. Antrim Apartment has parking space in the secure underground garage of the apartment complex.
Equipment and design
As already described, Antrim maintains two different accommodations with Antrim Villa and Antrim Apartment. Both accommodations are certified as fair trade accommodations.
Antrim Villa is a large house with eleven guest rooms on three levels (basement, ground and upper floor).
Our room was on the bottom floor. We had a deluxe room with a comfortable queen-size bed, a cozy bay window couch and a walk-in closet with a safe box.
In the bathroom there is a toilet, a sink and a spacious shower with glass walls. Look forward to their own Antrim line of shampoo, shower gel and body lotion with a wonderful smell of roibush, sandalwood and orange.
The rooms were sufficiently well protected from noise, so that we had a comfortable and peaceful sleep. There is also a large torch in the room, just in case of load shedding in Cape Town. If you want to know more about this topic, google the term load shedding.
Antrim Villa also has a large kitchen area that doubles as a lounge and breakfast room. In addition to a large dining table with chairs, there is also a comfortable sofa. Outside, you'll find the Honesty Bar. Take soft drinks, beer, wine or small snacks from it and mark your consumption on the list.
Behind the house is a garden area with a small pool, six comfortable loungers and towels. The whole garden is beautifully planted. Palm trees, green bushes and custom-made benches made of real wood create a great atmosphere.
The design of the whole system is based on a lot of wood and natural materials. Again and again, there are small eye-catchers in form of pictures and handcraft. We absolutely loved the design.
The entire property is monitored by an alarm system and surrounded by fences. Nobody can get in here without authorization. The staff is on site during the day. Security is on site at night.
Antrim Apartments are located in an eight-story building. The apartment itself is on the fourth floor. The view is directed towards the neighboring buildings.
In the apartment, you have a large living and kitchen area. There is a fully equipped kitchenette with fridge and freezer and a dining table with chairs. You will also find a sofa and a bookcase here.
The bedroom has a queen-size bed and a wardrobe with a safe.
Both in the living room and in the bedroom, there is a large floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door that you can open to let in fresh air.
In the bathroom, you will find a shower with a glass wall, a toilet and a sink. The design is in marble and there are the same great bathing amenities as in Antrim Villa.
The design is somewhat reminiscent of a beach house and we liked it a lot.
Culinary
Antrim Apartment is a self-catering apartment. Thus, we concentrate on Antrim Villa when it comes to cuisine.
In addition to the Honesty Bar already mentioned above, breakfast is of course also relevant from a culinary point of view. During good weather, you are welcome to enjoy your breakfast on the small terrace.
Breakfast starts at 07:30 am and lasts until 10:00 am.
A small but fine buffet is set up in the kitchen area. On request, you can get all kinds of coffee and egg specialties served to your table. Latte, Cappuccino or Americano as well as scrambled eggs, fried eggs or omelets. Make a choice. Juices, milk or water are also available.
You will find sweet pastries, toast, bread, yogurt, sausage, cheese and a delicious selection of fruits at the buffet.
Conclusion
In our opinion, both Antrim Villa and Antrim Apartment are excellent starting points for sightseeing in Cape Town. The location of both accommodations differs only by about 150 meters and is excellent in both cases.
If you like to take care of yourself, Antrim Apartment is probably your choice. If you prefer to take advantage of a lovely breakfast buffet and want to visit Cape Town restaurants in the evening, we recommend Antrim Villa.
Both are consistent and cozy in design. Safety is very important and a quiet environment will make you sleep well.
