Plataran Komodo Beach Resort in Labuan Bajo on Flores ♦ Indonesia
The Plataran Beach Resort [ad] consists of several villas of different size, but all are generously cut and luxurious in design. We felt very comfortable, because there is enough privacy for every villa.
Location of Plataran Komodo Beach Resort
Just off the busy town of Labuan Bajo the Plataran Komodo Beach Resort is located on the secluded Waecicu peninsula. While the hotels in Labuan Bajo tend to serve the backpackers and budget guests, at this northwestern tip of Flores luxury is found.
The Plataran Komodo Beach Resort is located in a small quiet bay directly on the crystal clear, warm sea. The hotel's jetty leads to the reef, where we snorkeled in the midst of colorful corals and fish.
Activities at the resort
Stand-up paddling and other water sports make the beach feeling perfect and ensure an action-packed stay.
If you prefer it more relaxing, feel free to chill at the inviting pool and let the sun shine on your belly or indulge yourself with a massage.
The Plataran lies on the edge of one of the last relatively undiscovered regions of Indonesia – the Komodo national park. This is the place where we have seen primeval dragons, psychedelic underwater sceneries and pristine islands between the Pacific and the Indian Ocean. Truly an adventure, in which Plataran Komodo Beach Resort is happy to serve you.
We were inspired by an Indonesian cooking class, which gave us a comprehensive insight into the use of exotic spices and the preparation of fresh seafood.
Here everyone will spend some sunny days according to one´s personal taste and will leave with a smile and many lasting memories.
We love scuba diving, nature and mountains, but we also love to get to know the culture of a country. How could this work better than with the culinary preferences of the locals?
That's why we visited a cooking class at Plataran Komodo Beach Resort during our Flores tour. Other travelers recommended us to join a cooking class in Indonesia. So after our trip to Komodo National Park we signed in for this Indonesian cooking class.
This was a real cooking class, where we cooked by ourselves and not just watched the chef doing his work.
We chopped, roasted, cooked and listened to the chef talking about high quality ingredients.
We - as passionate hobby chefs - could pull out the most from the combination of the spices the locals use. We usually use our standard spice combinations, which we know they work. But what we learned in Plataran about spices is just another world.
Various sambals, fish, calamari, giant shrimps and much more we fried, cooked or seared in a banana leaf.
Finally, the two very friendly chefs amazingly prepared our dishes and served it with a glass of white wine. Here in Plataran they know how to entertain and treat their guests. This experience was definitely one of the highlights of our Flores Tour.
If you're in Indonesia or even Flores, do not miss the spice cooking class at Plataran. Here you can take some for the local stove.
Culinary at the resort
Breakfast is served in the restaurant directly on the beach and can be chosen from the menu. Topical fruit platters, exotic cereal variations and savory egg dishes – everyone will find an amazing breakfast here.
