Location and arrival
The journey to Zermatt, where the Matterhorn FOCUS Design Hotels is located, is somewhat unusual, but by no means cumbersome. The journey by car ends in the small town of Täsch - about five kilometers from Zermatt. The last part of the journey from Täsch to Zermatt is then by train or shuttle, because Zermatt is car-free.
The Matterhorn FOCUS Design Hotel will of course pick you up at the train station with the e-buggy and bring you to the hotel. Tries to be there between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. On the day of departure, the free shuttle runs from the hotel to the train station until 3 p.m.
The Matterhorn FOCUS Design Hotel is located at the end of Zermatt in a very quiet location and above all with an unobstructed view of the Matterhorn. It takes about a minute to walk to the valley station of the Matterhorn Express. The valley stations of the Sunnegger Bahn and Gornergratbahn are located in the town center near the train station and therefore about a 15-minute walk away.
EQUIPMENT AND DESIGN IN THE MATTERHORN FOCUS DESIGN HOTEL
The Matterhorn FOCUS Design Hotel consists of different building complexes. Since the hotel is on a slope, you enter it through a small tunnel or tunnel that leads under the hotel. From there you can take the elevator to the main building with the reception, the bar and restaurant area as well as the pool & SPA area. The buildings with rooms for hotel guests are housed in extensions. Overall, the Matterhorn FOCUS Design Hotel seems to be quite winding, but gives a uniform and modern overall picture. We never had orientation problems.
The design of the public area is exactly our hotel taste - industrial chic with a lot of steel in contrast to natural materials such as wood, leather and other natural materials. In the center of the central area you will find a well-stocked bar above which a huge skylight opens up the view of the sky.
The lounge area is also furnished with great attention to detail. From there you come past the pool via an external staircase to the large roof terrace with a sensational view of the Matterhorn. Here, after a very friendly welcome, we enjoyed our welcome drink, wine from the Valais and a Matterhorn beer.
The SPA area is equipped with a Finnish sauna, brine bath, steam sauna, light room, indoor and outdoor pool including jacuzzi function and relaxation room with heated loungers. What could be nicer than letting your tired bones relax after a day in nature and enjoying the last rays of sunshine that reach the Zermatt valley in the outdoor pool.
We had a room on the top floor with an incredible view of the Matterhorn. The large glass front facing the mountain lets you see the mountain from every corner of the room - even from the comfortable queen-size bed.
You can also look forward to a large sofa with a flat-screen TV and a coffee machine, for those of you who can take an espresso before breakfast.
The room has a spacious balcony with a small table and two chairs. There we enjoyed a snack every evening with a lot of Swiss cheese and a view of the Matterhorn. The bathroom is big enough and has a sink, a toilet and a spacious shower. Fragrant bath products with essential oils are available. We were in room 503.
ACTIVITIES IN THE MATTERHORN FOCUS DESIGN HOTEL
What you should of course do when you are in Zermatt is to enjoy the unique mountains. That's probably why you came here.

The Matterhorn FOCUS Design Hotel offers you an extensive breakfast in the morning, which is included in the room price.
Breakfast is exactly what we want it to be: balanced yet powerful. Lots of fruits and nuts, Bircher muesli, but also hearty treats such as egg dishes, bacon, sausages, spreads and a good selection of sausages and ham, and above all wonderfully delicious cheeses. The buffet is really well filled and varied. Choose from a great variety of rolls, croissants and sweet pastries that change every day. Coffee will be prepared according to your wishes and served at the table.
In the afternoon you can buy sandwiches, sandwiches, bagels or sweet pastries at the bar. In the lounge by the pool area, finger food and a selection of different teas are available in the afternoon. In the evening there are delicious wines, cocktails, a cold beer or other minor sins at the bar. Do not miss out on this one.
There is no restaurant in the hotel. But Zermatt has an excellent selection of restaurants that serve every taste. Let us make a recommendation at the reception or make a reservation. But you can also stock up on a delicious snack in the supermarket. When we didn't go to a restaurant, we enjoyed our figs, delicious cheese and fresh bread on our balcony.
