LOCATION AND ARRIVAL OF THE BOUTIQUE HOTEL GLACIER
The Boutique Hotel Glacier [ad] is located in the picturesque village of Grindelwald in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland.
The journey from Germany is via the Lake Constance region - past fairytale landscapes, emerald green lakes and countless waterfalls.
It takes about five hours by car from Munich - about two hours from Zurich. The Boutique Hotel Glacier is located in Grindelwald Grund just a few minutes walk from the cog railway station. The location with an unobstructed view of the Eiger is really sensational and is second to none. There are of course plenty of free parking spaces for hotel guests.
EQUIPMENT AND DESIGN OF THE BOUTIQUE HOTEL GLACIER IN GRINDELWALD
From the outside, the hotel blends seamlessly into the idyllic backdrop of a Swiss mountain village from the picture book. On the inside, however, a combination of modern design elements and classic alpine materials such as wood, stone and leather dominate. You will find small and big highlights throughout the hotel.
In addition to the rooms on the upper floors, you will also find an extraordinary restaurant on the ground floor with a large glass front towards the mountains in the Boutique Hotel Glacier. The restaurant area is complemented by a wonderful panoramic terrace. If you have the opportunity, use the terrace for both breakfast and dinner.
After your meal, the stylish but cozy lounge is ideal for lingering, where you can enjoy your happy hour or after dinner cocktail by the fireplace. Make yourself comfortable on couches, armchairs and tables and enjoy the mountain view through the large glass fronts.
The 28 rooms and suites of the Boutique Hotel Glacier are spread over three floors. From normal double rooms to rooms with a breathtaking view of the Eiger to the fantastic honeymoon suite. There is something for everyone here.
All rooms follow a harmonious color concept and are equipped with high-quality equipment such as an espresso machine, flat screen TV, sound box and above all a luxurious COCO-MAT bed, in which you will sleep like a baby and will regain your strength after a day on the mountain.
Our room had a huge balcony with a swing, chairs and a small seating area. You can really endure there.
The design on the balcony looks very harmonious, high quality and in keeping with the surroundings. The highlight here is of course the view of the Eiger massif and the Mönch and Jungfrau behind it.
The bathroom is equipped with a spacious shower, separate toilet and, among many other things, with a great selection of high-quality Rituals products (shampoo, body lotion and shower gel). A small bag of sweet dreams hung from our room door every evening.
ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA
What you shouldn't miss in Grindelwald, of course, is the trip to the Jungfraujoch with the cog railway. Even if the journey with around 200 euros is really incredibly expensive, the experience at almost 3,500 meters is really impressive.
The Jungfraujoch is the connection between the two four-thousanders, Mönch and Jungfrau. The view up there in the eternal ice of the glacier is really breathtaking.
Do the small but sweaty hike up there. But be careful: the altitude has taken our breath away and every step is exhausting.
In any case, take a close look at the weather forecast, because the Jungfraujoch can sometimes be covered in clouds and then the trip is probably not worth it.
You should also take a look at the hike to Bachalpsee. In our case, it fell victim to the weather, so we had more time in the wonderful hotel.
You see, these were just two examples of hikes in and around Grindelwald. Of course you can also visit the other mountains in the valley or mountain biking.
If you like it a little more adventurous, the Top of Adventure offer on the First is the right thing for you. Flying fox, cliff walks, mountain carts or scooter bikes let the adrenaline pump up.
Back at the accommodation, you can enjoy yourself in the SPA. Let yourself be penetrated by the heat in the Finnish sauna with 85 degrees or sweat really in the steam sauna.
Enjoy the silence in the elegant design of the relaxation room on water beds.
Outside there is a small but nice pool with jacuzzi function and above all again a wonderful view of the imposing mountain backdrop.

FOOD IN THE BOUTIQUE HOTEL GRINDELWALD
The biggest unique selling point of the Boutique Hotel Glacier is its exceptionally good cuisine. Thirteen Gault-Millau points speak for themselves.
But from the beginning:
Breakfast is usually served as a buffet. Due to the corona pandemic, we were served breakfast at the table. The selection of the dishes offered was large and the quality was very good. Of course you can also reorder.
Choose from cereals, fruit or natural yoghurt, Bircher muesli as well as fresh fruits, nuts, dried fruits or vegetables.
Be sure to try the regional cheese and sausage specialties, the delicious jams and the Grindelwald honey.
A good selection of bread, rolls and sweet pastries as well as egg dishes, juices, coffee specialties or prosecco are available.
We were really extremely satisfied with the breakfast.
Of course, you don't have to go hungry at noon and in the afternoon. The team will be happy to serve you an extract from the menu or coffee and cake in the afternoon.
The highlight is definitely the evening dinner. We had the three-course menu twice - peppered with regional products of exceptional quality.
Among other things, dry aged lamb, regional Swiss caviar and many wild herbs from our own garden - always accompanied by high-quality wines from Switzerland.
In keeping with the quality of the dishes, the composition on the plates is always a visual highlight.
We really looked forward to dinner every night and always went to bed enthusiastically and full.
CONCLUSION ON THE BOUTIQUE HOTEL GRINDELWALD
As far as we know, the Boutique Hotel Glacier is the only boutique hotel in Grindelwald.
The hotel convinced us across the board.
